Honda Repair: honda running hot, radiator fluid, honda accord

Question
i have a 98 honda accord and its running hot when i hit the gas and go.. but when i slow down and make a turn it drops back down to cool until i hit the gas again. when i park the car it is making a boiling noise. either way my cars running hot. other than my thermostat is there any other things it could be?

Answer
Sarah, your right about the thermostat. Replace this part. Cheap to purchase too. Radiator fluid/coolant should be flushed at the same time you do this. Another area that could be failing is you water pump. When was the last time you had the timing belt changed? Ever? When the timing belt is changed you always replace the water pump. Why? Because the part brand new from honda is like $20. And you have to remove the timing belt away from the water pump in order to replace the timing belt so, you replace the water pump at the same time you are receiving the timing belt service. My recommendation - if you don't know when the last time the timing belt was replaced. Replace it. And the water pump. And the thermostat. And flush the radiator fluid.

Dealer cost on all that. About $500 and 1 day. (Actually 4 hours.) Anywhere else you take your car to have the timing belt replaced they do not do all the other extras that Honda does for you anyway. Like set timing and idle, proper coolant bleed techniques, etc. I hope this helps you out.
