Honda Repair: Clogged EGR ports, entry holes, jb weld

Question
Honda Repair: Clogged EGR ports, entry holes, jb weld
Intake Blobs
Where are the EGR ports on the intake manifold on a 1989 Honda 2.0 SI motor? I believe they are clogged and causing my conditions but cannot locate them to clean them out. Other Honda motors have small plugs that are removed but this intake shows nothing like that? There are 5 blobs or build-ups of aluminum located in spots on the top surface (see photo), could the entry holes be these and plugged at the factory?

Answer
Leo, tough question for me to answer. I do not recommend this service for the do-it-yourself mechanic. But, you should know exactly what you are doing before drilling 1/8" to 1/4" holes directly into your intake manifold and covering the holes with JB weld.

The holes, "build-ups of aluminum", are just that.

My recommendation? Go to the local junk yard and pull off the intake manifold from the same engine. Therefore allowing you to drill out the used intake manifold if you want too. Or have the used intake manifold 'hot-tank dipped' this will clean everything inside and out of the unit.

The picture is too zoomed in in order for me to make a proper diagnosis as well.

I also looked online and found some forums that talk about doing this. So do some research before getting into something and realizing you cannot finish the job.
