Honda Repair: Acura MDX throttle body service, 2004 acura mdx, acura mdx

Question
Hi,
I have a 2004 Acura MDX with 55,000 miles. I brought the car in to the dealer for an oil change and they told me the throttle body is dirty and should be cleaned at a cost of $200. Is this service necessary and is the price fair?

Answer
Jeff, sorry about the delay in response time. If Acura recommends it then I would trust them. Yes, i hate paying the dealership price of labor per hour but, they are experts and will do this professionally. Unless you know another mechanic/technician that knows the procedure precisely go that route. Basically carbon deposits are what they are saying are building up in throttle body area which in effect can effect performance and reliability. Very miniscule and hard to detect. Ultimately the choice is yours and i hope my input helped a little...
