Honda Repair: 90 Honda accord S light, vehicle speed sensor, transmission drivetrain

Question
I have the "S" light flashing problem before and currently. The car barely moves at take off. I was told before the part for that correction is located under the passenger side floorboard. Would that be the same thing as the VSS or a different part?

Answer
Kim, the flashing 'S' light means that there is an issue with your Automatic Transmission. I believe that the 'S' stands for the Sport option button located near the gear selector. The light is flashing because the transmission/drivetrain ECU (computer) is throwing a code. The code needs to be evaluated and/or repaired then cleared from the system in order for it to quit flashing. The transmission needs to be serviced ASAP if you are having symptoms like, "barely moves at take off." Ignoring this warning could result in continued and irreversible damage to the transmission and other components. The ECU is located near the passenger floorboard area but, evaluate the code first.

The VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) is located in the engine bay and attached to the transmission case.
