Honda Repair: torque converter solenoid, metal shavings, torque converter

Question
my Honda accord has been shifting funny for past 3 months, last night on my way to work it would not shift out of second gear, made it to work but when i got in car to go home it wouldn't shift into drive at all. Is that fixable by replacing toque converter solenoid. i did throw a code for the tcc, or is my trans toast?

Answer
Miclo, "shifting funny for 3 months" I would almost guarantee that the torque converter is destroying itself due to lack of maintenance. Which is putting metal shavings into your transmission fluid and being circulated throughout the transmission system. No it is not just fixable by replacing a solenoid on the transmission. The solenoid cannot do its job because it is full of metal shavings. Thus, throwing multiple codes.

Start by replacing the torque converter. Around $100-$150 expect to pay a core charge. Replace the transmission with a used unit with low miles. $400-$750 shipped to your door. Flush the entire transmission system. The biggest expense is paying someone to do the labor for this swap out. Labor costs can be anywhere from $300-$750.
