Honda Repair: engine sputter at 4k rpms, economical reasons, shift point

Question
Have a 2002 honda accord coup 4cyl. It started to sputter at 4k rpms. It doesn't matter what speed or gear. It doesn't do this when the car first starts. usually after 15 min. or so. If I let up on the gas it will shift and stop sputtering if I keep it below 4k rpms. any ideas?

Answer
Ron, tough question to answer, but, here are some ideas for you to check out. After the car is warmed up, does this, 'sputtering' continue under normal driving conditions or full throttle? Not alot of people prefer to take there engines over 4k due to economical reasons. 3k shift point is about the higher end of the norm. Is your car a manual transmission? (I'm assuming.) Whichever try it under full throttle or normal driving conditions. When did you last add fuel to your car? Or any additives? Do you add additives on a regular basis. Do you race your car or are just an occasional open it up?

Fuel can cause this. Moisture in the gas tank can cause this too. Lack of maintenance. Clogged fuel filter> tune up> alot of options to choose from but narrow it down a bit so i can guide you in a more direction if you can at all
