I have 2001 Honda Prelude with 161K miles. Yesterday the speedometer abruptly stopped working and the green D drive light became intermittent. What are the possibles cause(s)?

John, unfortunately your instrument cluster is failing. I have talked to a lot of people who are all describing this similar problem on 1998 to 2001 Preludes. Depending on your location and access to electrical instrument cluster repair professionals your only other option would be to replace your cluster with a used unit. Get a warranty though and make sure this is a reputable company and not an Ebay or Craigslist part.
