Honda Repair: 1989 Honda Civic DX will not start, honda civic dx, 1989 honda civic dx

Question
My Civic turned over twice and then just sounded like it was spinning.  I replaced the starter thinking it had sheared off the teeth. Still just cranks.  I have confirmed that it has spark and have checked the timing belt and it is intact and has tension (replaced 10,000 miles ago).  I checked compression with a tester and each has compression.  I also checked all the fuses.  It continues to just crank and not turn over.  Any ideas?

Answer
John, you are on the right track. Now you need to find out if you are getting fuel? Turn key to 'on' position and listen or feel if the fuel pump is coming on. Or you can take the fuel line off of the filter, heading towards the motor. Could be a fuel filter issue too. My guess fuel pump. Timing could have jumped as well. Some ideas for you to check!
