Honda Repair: ABS, honda accord ex, abs system

Question
Hi Travis,

We have a 1996 Honda Accord EX in excellent condition, with about 140,000 miles. We just did the timing belt and water pump. The ABS light came on and was told, the ABS "system" is not functioning but the braking is fine. The cost to replace this is around $2000, which we don't want to spend. In your opinion, is the car still functional without the ABS system operational?

Answer
Dan, yes this is fine to still operate and drive daily. The ABS system just wont work yet your brakes still function normally. Cars with ABS that are in a braking slide pulse the brakes so you have somewhat more control in the slide. Cars without basically just lock up therefore less control in a slide.
