Honda Repair: 04 civic, timming belt, water pump replacement

Daughter was driving her civic and it just died,no other problem, she smelled gas but not bad. The lights and everything else works. I was tinnking, fuel pump or timming belt but don't know for sure. 98000 miles. Thx...

Dan, 04 civic's usually dont loose timing belts at those miles. But, who knows... 90K service requires timing belt and water pump replacement. If i had to guess, with the info you provided, fuel pump. Turn the key to the on position and listen closely to hear if the fuel pump is engaging. Key on, key off, key on, etc. fuel pump will activate. Should hear it or you can try feel.
