Honda Repair: Auto transmission problem, freeway speeds, accord vti

Question
I am having honda accord-vti '93 auto transmission. When i start the car and put it D4, Car drives about 500m then suddenly it stops picking up the speed.even if i pedal the accelerator, car is not going forward and gear box works like a neutral for any gear. I changed transmission fluid and transmission electronic controller. but nothing seems working. what could be wrong????

Answer
Pulin, you need to replace the Torque Converter. As soon as the transmission fluids warms up to operating temp the torque converter slips. This is why you can only go so far. There are a couple of solenoids on the transmission case you can check/replace, but, I think in my professional opinion this is the torque converter failing you. Not uncommon with the mileage you have on the vehicle. Remember if you use D4 you need to be at freeway speeds otherwise use D3. This will prevent premature wear to the overdrive area of the transmission itself and torque converter.
