Honda Repair: 89 Civic DX stalling, emission control systems, civic dx

Question
QUESTION: 89 Civic - DX stalls when at traffic lights or put into gear. Changed the fuel pump, fuel filter, main relay, solenoid-alternator fuse. Replaced the igniter with a second hand one last summer off a wreck when it wouldnt' start. Replaced the rotor and cap at the same time. Car stalls intermittantly, when cold or hot.
though. Could it be a coil or picking up coil not getting the info to the injectors. Used injector cleaner, and the mechanic says the throttle body is clean, idle is good. He figures the igniter (ICM) is shot...Getting a whole unit with igniter, coils, and cap with rotor from Honda. Ideas?

Help...

ANSWER: The coil & the injectors do not have a relationship going on at this time......:)
First tell me if you have the check engine light ON.
Are there any codes stored in the ECM?
Do you have a 5Spd or automatic transmission?

QUESTION: The check engine light isn't on. The ECM flashes, it is an automatic 4 speed.

Answer
1_st, even though the check engine light is off in the instrument cluster, there may still be a code stored in the computer.

All OBD1 emission control systems will set the MIL(Malfunction Indicator Lamp) to OFF when the ignition switch is turned off.But the computer will save the code.

Check under the passenger foot well area under the carpet. That's where the vehicle OBD1 computer is located.
Pull back the carpet slightly & see in the RED LED on the computer is flashing with the ignition switch in ON position & engine OFF.
If it is flashing, then count the number of LONG & SHORT flashes & report back, please.
