Honda Repair: BRAKE LIGHT WONT WORK AND HORN WORKS WITH THE BRAKE PEDDAL, fuse box, honda accord ex

Question
Hi,

I have a '90 Honda Accord EX, Automatic Transmission with 180k miles on it. This morning while driving, I noticed that whenever I step on the brake pedal, the horn gets activated, while the brake light stays off, but it drives well. I pulled up the road side to check the fuse box to ensure everything is okay in there. On getting back to the driving seat, I start the car, stepped the brake Pedal, to release the gear shift lock, but it wont work. The gear handle wont leave the Pack position. Pls what exactly is wrong with my car? Pls can you help?

Answer
First thing's first. Need to replace the brake switch if there are no other problems with the wiring.
However, there may be something else other than the brake switch, that is shorting or grounding when the brake pedal is depressed. That needs to be addressed as well.
