Honda Repair: 89 honda accord wont shift, 89 honda accord, clutch pedal

Question
about a week ago crossing over the free way, my car suddenly stalled and when i tried to restart the car i realized that my clucth pedal was dead, no feed back to the transmission at all, and the car wouldnt go into a gear unless i had it in first, being 3 minutes from work i started the car in first and shifted my way to 3rd using the engines RPM's to just slide it into the next gear. i arrived at work, and my car has been sitting out side since, i was looking for any advice o what exactly the problem maybe, and how to possibly fix it.

Answer
Brett, the clutch pedal is dead? And no feedback to the Transmission? Since the clutch on these cars is Cable activated and not Hydraulic check under the hood. Following the Clutch cable to the transmission make sure it is not damaged or came undone from the transmission itself. Also, it is not uncommon for these cables to come out of adjustment which immobilizes the clutch pedal and does not allow enough pressure to release or to much pressure to be applied. Anyways that adjustment surrounds the clutch cable at the base of the transmission. The retainer is a hollow plastic sleeve that has a plastic, hexagon, style of nut. It works by clockwise/counter-clockwise turns to adjust pressure. If that is all there and looking good, try turning the nut all the way down and up. Checking your clutch pedal when you reach the end point on both extremes. If nothing still then your clutch has failed and needs to be replaced.
