Honda Repair: 1993 Honda Accord, spontaneous event, diagnostic time

Question
I have a 200K mile Accord Wagon, well-maintained and in great condition. Yesterday, I began having a problem with the right turn signal while away on a trip. At first, the amber light on the back of the car stayed on all the time, as did the green "right turn" dash indicator (but faintly). Now, the turn signal works all right unless I step on the brake, in which case the turn signal quits blinking until I let off the brake. Also, if I have the cruise control on, the cruise shuts off when I activate the right turn signal (the left signal doesn't effect it). The cruise control also shuts off when I turn on the headlights. When the car is turned off, the green "right turn" dash indicator lights up faintly if I step on the brake. I haven't had any work done for over a month, so this seems to be a spontaneous event. HELP!

Answer
Bob, definitely an electrical issue going on. Check all grounds (-) under the hood. There will be 3. Check the Battery and then have the Starter and Alternator tested. This should be a free service. Make sure all bulbs are in working order, exterior marker lights, reverse lights, and brake lights. This is just the beginning because the entire electrical system must be diagnosed and scrutinized carefully. Most electrical repair shops are reasonable in price and should find the short with about 2 hours or less of diagnostic time.
