Honda Repair: fuel pump for a 1996 civic dx., civic dx, pump fuel

I have a problem with my civic. It wont start but some times it will if i put extra gas in the gas tank even if it has gas. but when i try starting it. it sounds like it wants to start and smells like gas. i belive its the gas pump but idk. i think it might be also a spark plug but im not sure. so can some one please help me out.

Chris, this sounds like a fuel issue. Which can only be the fuel pump, fuel filter, injectors, or ECU. The fuel filter is the cheapest to replace then move on to diagnosis of the fuel pump. At the fuel pump check for Key on power and repeat multiple times. You should be able to hear the pump activate when Key is on. If no sound then this is your issue. I would also recommend doing a full tune up too. Spark plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. Along with the fuel filter. This should solve your problem.
