Honda Repair: 1989 accord transmission, chiltons manual, auto parts store

Question
my car shits hard. we want to know if there is a way to check the transmission fluid on a 1989 Honda accord.

Answer
Hi Corey, considering that your Accord is a Manual Transmission not an Automatic, right? There is a bolt that can be removed and then you stick your finger in the opening. If you get oil on the tip of your finger then your fluid is at the correct level. If not, then i would drain and refill to the manufacturer's specifications. Any auto parts store will tell you the proper amount and (engine oil) to use. Honda does not use Transmission fluid in their Transmissions but they do use engine oil. You change the Transmission fluid just like you would your Engine oil. There should be a bolt at the lower part of the transmission, passenger side. Also i would recommend purchasing a Chiltons manual for your vehicle and it will also give you step by step directions on how to do this as well. Good luck...
