Honda Repair: Deactivate a side winder car alarm, back splice, side winder

Question
How do you manually deactivate a side winder car alarm?

Answer
I don't have a clue on how to manually deactivate an aftermarket alarm. I do know how to take them out though. You will have to get under the dash on the driver side & basically pull down the big glob of wires that consist of the alarm. They are a pain to deal with because most of the time, the installers just trim some of the factory harness back & splice the alarm into the factory harness. After you unsplice the alarm, you have bare wire spots that could create a short to ground. You will have to cut the alarm harness where it is connected to the ignition circuit & rewire the ignition circuit back correctly, you have to remove the alarm from the door lock circuit & repair the factory harness, you have to cut off grounds from the alarm. This is a real pain, dealing with alarms. If I have a car in my shop & I have to do under dash wire repairs, like the ignition switch, I unhook the junk alarms & take them out. Most people don't use them anyway & usually thank me for taking their alarm out. If all this seems like a pain to you, the best advise is to take your car to a steres shop & pay them to take it out for you. The last thing you want to do is try to remove this alarm & create more electrical problems that will cost more money to fix.
