Honda Repair: timing belt, balancer shaft, engine vibration

Question
hi there, I own a 1994 Honda accord. Just recently I changed my car's timing belt. The belt is also little bit loose. I need to know why there is some kinda sound near the timing belt cover when ever i start the engine but after a while that sound stops. The sound occurs whenever i start the engine but later when i keep on driving it stops. Please help me out. Is the sound normal? The sound wasn't there before i changed the timing belt. Will the sound stop after some time or do i have to take it to a mechanic?

Answer
No, your not supposed to have any abnormal noises out of the timing belt area. My first thought is you probably didn't tension the belt correctly when you first installed it. You also have to make sure the balancer shaft belt is aligned correctly & has the proper tension. If you get the rear balancer timing mark 180 degrees out of time, the engine will have an abnormal engine vibration. You should have put a pin in the rear balancer shaft oil plug to keep this mark aligned. My advise is not to guess on the timing belt, because you can do major cylinder head damage if the mark aren't correctly aligned & if the belt doesn't have the proper tension. You should take your car to a qualified mechanic for repairs.
