Honda Repair: 94 Accord wont start, spark plug gap, ngk spark plugs

Question
Yesterday my engine was turning over then dying but if I gave it gas and kept up the idle it wouldn't die and soon be fine. The starter and the engine were both sounding perfectly fine. Now the starter makes absolutely no sound at all and the engine won't start. All the dash lights still come on, and I left the battery on a charger for several hours. Any suggestions?

Answer
It sounds like you have two issues. The first one being hard to start could be caused to worn out or fouled out spark plugs. If you can't remember the last time you did a tune up, then remove a spark plug & look at the electrode. If the spark plug gap is excessively worn or the tip of the spark plug is black, then your engine probably needs to be serviced. Make sure you install NGK spark plugs if this the case. The next issue could be a worn out starter. If the dash lights come on, then the battery probably has enough juice in if you charged it. You need to check if you have 12 volts at the small wire on the starter solenoid while the key is in the start position. If you have 12 volts while the key is in START, you have a worn out starter. These are the most common problems, hope this info helps.
