Honda Repair: door lock actuator, phillips screws, pop rivets

Question
I have 1999 honda prelude and I am having trouble removing the door lock actuator.

Answer
Hi Vinny, Remove the door panel. Have you tried removing the plastic covering from the door itself? It is held on by some nasty glue/sticky type material around the border of the plastic sheet. Remove that. Then trace the metal rod from the door lock itself and it should take you right to the actuator. When you mean actuator, I assume you mean, the motor that actually moves the door lock from the lock to unlock position? If so, and depending if anyone has replaced this part, it is usually mounted to a solid surface, i.e. the door itself. Fasteners could be pop rivets, 10 or 8mm bolts, and maybe even Phillips screws. There should be 2 of them. The actuator should be black in color with a white tip with a hole in it to where the metal rod is attached. Let me know if this helps...
