Honda Repair: 1988 Honda Revs at Start Up, wd 40, hi tim

Hi, I have an 88 Accord that idles OK for about a second, then  the engine races until I shut it off before it redlines. Any ideas what might be causing this? Thanks for your help.

Hi Tim, is this the first time this has happened? If so, inspect your throttle cable. It might be pinched or damaged or needs some TLC. Try spraying the throttle (swivel) with WD-40 and all other moving parts. Adjust your carb or FI. Check timing and spark areas. Let me know if this helps...
