Honda Repair: altenator light, altinator, test light

Question
1988 accord lxi The charging light is on and I can't get it to go off. I pulled the altinator and had it checked, it's fine. I checked the voltage at the battery with the engine running, 14 plus volts. But why is the light still on?

Answer
Hi Grant, the only reason the light comes on is when the Alternator is not producing charge to the battery. Check all the wiring at the connectors making sure nothing is loose or damaged. Inspect entire run of wiring harness, from, battery to alternator, inspecting for loose parts and or damage. Inspect plug at alternator to make sure it is properly installed and fastened appropriately. You can use a test light also to see if you have power to the Alternator and out from the Alternator. (This will chase the trace.) Was the Alternator checked appropriately? Let me know if this helps...
