Honda Repair: 1995 Honda Accord LX, transmission control module, honda accord lx

Question
I have a 1995 Honda Accord LX, whose Check Engine light
stays on and the "D" driving gear FLASHES in the front
console.  Sometimes, the Check Engine light goes off, and
the engine/car has more power.  However, the "D" driving
gear continuously flashes in the front console.

What could be the problem?

Thanks,
Elaine

Answer
Theres codes stored in the pcm (powertrian control module)and tcm (Transmission control module.  Its going to be a transmission issue cause of the d light flashing so im pretty sure that the check engine light is just going to be pointing to the tcm . The only real thing you can do right now is get the codes pulled to see exactly what is the problem. If you want to try and pull the codes yourself, under the passenger side dash behind the glove compartment theres a blue plug not plugged into anything. If you jump those two wires it will start to flash out codes on the dash. Jump the plug  , then turn the key on and count the number of flashes from the d light, and the check light. A long flash will be a fist digit  and short flashes will be the second digit, so _____ _____ would be 2 _ _ _ _ would be 4 so that would be a code 24. there will normally be a pause in between codes.
