Honda Repair: 06 crv rear door lite switch, wd 40, stereo shop

Question
Hi our 06 crv is having its rear door ajar lite on the dash go on along with the rear dome when we go over even the smallest of bumps or around curves, i looked at everything and there is no easily identifiable switch so i am assuming it is in the latch or magnetic or something, i am a pretty good mechanic so if you can walk me through the adjustment procedure i can probably do it my self.

Answer
Hi Phil, to start inspect the latch itself to see if there is any damage or loose parts. Then spray down the latch with WD-40. I believe the sensor is inside the rear door panel so you might want to remove that as well. Locate the sensor/latch and verify that it is plugged in and tight. If parts are damaged replace them. Has this CR-V been in a rear-end vehicle accident? If you do not know you can run a Car-Fax/facts to find out. The door could be out of adjustment as well. Inspect and WD-40 the hinges. If this still does not solve the problem take the vehicle into a stereo shop to see if they can evaluate the issue. I hope this helps...
