Honda Repair: RPM Fluctuates, throttle position sensor, vacuum leak

Question
I have a Acura Integra 1991, and the RPM keeps moving from 1000 to 2000 rpm. I just changed the clutch, but I can't figure out what might be the problem. I basically change most of the sensors  on the engine from junkyard parts but still no luck.

Another problem is I probably put the battery backwards, and now I have a battery light turning on the dash board. I also checked that the car and now it's not charging. I check the fuses and its okay, however, I'm not sure if it could be a voltage regulator that went bad or where do I go about looking for it?

Thanks,

eN

Answer
ok the fluctuating rpm is due to a few things, map sensor, throttle position sensor, or your idle. or it could be something as small as a vacuum leak.
MAP SENSOR: if it is your map sensor you should see a "check engine" light on your guage cluster lit up if it is lit up under your passenger side carpet by the firewall pull up the carpet and you will see your ecu. (big metal looking thing) there should be a red dot. count how many times it blinks before it pauses.
IDLE: if you open your hood and look right about the throttle body youll see a flat head screw mess with it until idling is at your preference 500rpm at cool down...
TPS" you should also be recieving a code if this is a problem
VACUUM LEAK: do you hear a "Sucking" sound coming from by your firewall in the engine bay? if so try to find where the leak is coming from.

NOW on your battery. putting the battery backwards may have fried your alternator. you can go up to any autozone or oreilys and they can check that for you. to me thats whatit sounds like happened
