Honda Repair: 05 CRV Brakes, disk brakes, surface rust

Question
Hi John, Can you tell me please how to grease brake sliders for disk brakes on
an '05 CRV? Dealer did it in the fall and told me to do it at the beginning and
end of the winter. They put new calipers and pads in the rear at 10,000 miles
and now I have scraping noise again at 15,000 miles. After sitting for a few
days, the brakes are stuck on when I try to move the car. Scraping noise
diminishes after driving. I notice rust on the rotors. Thanks, Paul

Answer
i guess you are far north, cuz that is odd to me.

some surface rust from sitting is not a problem. the pads will cut it off quickly.

the actual sliders shouldn't have to be touched, they are in a rubber boot. if there aren't binding at all in sliding them back and forth, then leave them be.
now the pads.. go get some antisieze from any parts store. there is a copper and silver. doesn't really matter.
smear some on the back of the pads where the caliper touches them and along the edges top and bottom where they slide on the bracket.
thats all we do every brake job.

John
