Honda Repair: spark, coil wire, external coil

Question
i have a 00 civic si with a type r swap with a msd cap and external coil (msd ss blaster) well my short ram intake the coupling holding it on to the intake itself ripped and made my air intake fall on my coil wire. every since then my car has just been cutting off when i go down the road.and will not start again until i unplug the coil wire and plug it back in.so what do u think

Answer
This is a weird one! The first thing I would recommend is a bracket on the intake so it doesn't happen again. I must say this is a weird one. When you say the coil wire I am assuming you mean the one that transmits spark to the cap not the connector wiring. That being said, it is possible that the coil wire was damaged by the intake. It is also possible that the wiring going inside the cap to the ignitor was knocked loose or damaged as well. Make sure that the coil wire is fitting snug on the coil and the cap since it has been stressed. My last thought would be that the intake may have shorted the coil but this is unlikely unless physical damage is seen on the wire or coil. Good luck, hope this helped and feel free to contact me if you have any other questions! Let me know when you find the root cause of the problem as part of being a technician is a collection of trivia!
