Honda Repair: my honda accelerates itself, throttle cables, throttle plate

Question
i have a 1997 Honda civic 5 speed, i recently did an oil change and the next day when i was going to work as i shifted to 3rd gear the car started to pull itself forward, it did it a couple of times then it turned off, turned it on while it was rolling and barely made it home, i took the fuel filter of then cleaned it then i took of the fuel line then the injectors then it ran fine but the next day after 15 minutes on the road it did it again it pulls itself forward but does not turn off and i don't know what it could be can you help, thank you

Answer
Miguel,

Do you have cruise control? I found a civic one time that had cruise control and the vehicle would just accelerate and wouldn't stop. The cruise is vacuum operated and the vacuum diaphragm would not release because of a spider web built up and blocked the rubber tube that vented the actuator. Also the throttle cable and/or throttle body could be sticking. Honda had a recall on the throttle cables of some 96 - 00 civics for sticking/binding. The throttle plate could have carbon build up but that doesn't sound like your problem. I think it might be your cable! Hope that helps! Feel free to get back at me if you have any other questions.
