Honda Repair: 1990 Honda Accord EX, shape thanks, honda accord ex

Question
Hello, I just purchased a 1990 Accord with a mechanical issue. Apparently there was, perhaps, a spark plug tip that broke off in the engine after not being changed for an extended period of time. When a new plug was installed by the previous owner's mechanic, something kept pushing the new spark plug tip to a compressed/closed state, requiring the owner to pull the plug and re-gap it. This occurred several times following re-gapping. Any idea what could be causing this and how it can be repaired? I was considering pulling the plug out and switching the remaining plug wires, then turning it over so it would create a backfire and possibly shoot out whatever might be in the cylinder. I don't know if that is a wise move or not...Any input would be greatly appreciated. Other than the occasional current miss, the engine runs good and the car is in great shape. Thanks for your input.

Answer
it could be a few things. one, your plugs are just in too tight and they were threaded down too far. just simply dont tighten them as much. also it could be teh piston is just going up too high. do you hear a knocking noise like a spun bearing or loose rod cap? it may also be if the cylinder head was ever machined, they milled it too far and it will never be able to be fixed. with all 4 plug wires out does it look like the one is in any deeper or farther than the others? it may have to be taken to a machine shop to be rethreaded. hope this helps.
