Honda Repair: COST OF REBUILDING AN ENGINE, honest mechanic, blue smoke

Dear Hector,
You advised me to have the engine rebuild for my 1988 Honda Civic because of the blue smoke. My question is , in your expertise if you will have the same problem and looking for a mechanic, in order not to be rip-off by the not so honest mechanic, how much will be the cost, the most of rebuilding the engine to let them do the job if I find one. I MEAN OUT THE DOOR TOTAL COST.

it depends, every shop charge different depending in the location, also depends in the parts they are using, but it is usually from 800-1500 I just rebuild my engine last week and the total cost were 850, but you might be able to find a kit for $500 ,,,, Plus labor ... so it will be around a $1000.... or you can get a used engine for about 400 with very low mileage... but take in mind that a rebuild engine is like having a new engine or better because the parts that are used are better ....
