Hi, I recently bought a 1995 Honda Odyssey. The SRS light is on, I took it to the dealer and they said there was "no code" found on diagnostics. They say I need a new control unit and the entire harness system needs to be replaced. They are quoting $2300. Does this seem right? Does no code really indicate the entire system needs to be replaced? Also the car smokes at takeoff, they said the guides are just "getting tired" (the car has 110,000 miles on it) Anything I can do to stop the smoking? Thank You!

Answer -
Just reset the computer, take the hazzard fuse out and wait 15 mins and replace, this will reset the srs light. the smoke problem can be reduced by using a stop smoke aditive you can buy at any gas station.

Thanks for the reply. I took out the fuse and waited and then replaced but the SRS light is still on. Any other options? Also is the smoking a big red flag that I should get rid of the car? Thanks so much for your help and time! Heather

Answer
I would suggest the car needs a new owner because smoking can come from a number of serious things, and as for the SRS light, if there is no code there is no SRS air bag in the compartment, so the dealer is at fault for not telling you when he\she sold it to you,,,
