Q: Estimation of course...but in your opinion, how long would it take a novice with no experience replacing the (right CV Joint)on a 1989 4dr Honda Civic? Q: Are there any specialty tools to be aware of?

just a 32mm socket for the cv, dissconnect top and steering arm of the hub and pull out, push the cv out of the hub and pull out of gear box, put a container under the inner cv aera under the gear box, are you doing a internal cv joint or a external cv joint, internal ones are easy just replace the berrings, outer cv you need to bash with a hammer to pop off, the outer cv you need to replace the whole unit.
