Honda Repair: crv 2002 air conditioning, crv 2002, american honda

the dealer just informed me tht my AC compressor jammed up and he is saying that when that happens because metal shards will permeate the entire system; i will need to not only replace the compressor but also reciever-filter, condensor, flush the system then recharge... for about $3000...

i have only 46k on this 2002 crv and ...well you can imagine.

I looked on-line and good compressor is only $220.

do i need to do what they are suggesting...

Yes, you will have to replace everything like they said.  With that mileage, call American Honda's customer relations and complain.  You shouldn't be paying for that one.  They may be willing to help.  Try that avenue before spending your own money.  Very common especially on 02-03 CRVs
