Honda Repair: 98 accord overheating, raditor, headgaskets

Question
Hey Craig,

I have 1998 accord 4cyl.Ive had a overheating problem since Dec 04 after i overheated on the freeway , the first shop supposely replaced my headgasket and head, waterpump, another shop replaced my raditor and thermostat, still overheating! i took it to a honda dealer and they told me my headgasket was blown.
I went to a pepboys mechanic i know and he told me it was not blown because oil was not mixing with the antifreeze and i took a 6 hour trip one time with no overheating.the fans are coming on. but at traffic lights longer than a minute or 2 the needle starts going up and when i drive off it goes back down. the pepboys mechanic told me he bleed the air out of the system and the thermostat is good. but the overheating problem is still there. any advice you could give would be appreciated.
thanks Jarrett

Answer
Do both fans come on with the A/C on?  Make sure both fans are coming on.  Also let the engine idle and see if both fans come on with the engine idling.  Most blown headgaskets on Honda's do not mix oil and coolant.  It just burns the coolant.  Are you having to add coolant?
