Honda Repair: 1988 Honda Accord LX Automatic, honda accord, accord lx

Question
I own a 1988 Honda Accord. I didnt drive it for a year, so it just sat in my yard. My dad currently did some work on it and got it running again. We are having a problem with it though. The car runs fine when the engine is cold. When it gets hot the idle starts to drop almost to the point of shutting off. It does this while driving down the road some times. If you shift the gears, it will shut off as soon as you hit the gas to go. We replaced a vacuum, and set the timing cause it was a bit off. The fans kick in when the car gets hot. Do you have anyother reccomendations?

Answer
Have you adjusted the idle speed?  There is an idle speed screw on the back side of the carb.  Hard to find but its there.  If that is good, it sounds like you may have a carb problem and that was before my time so I never learned much about those.  We don't even work on them ourselves.  We will replace them (about $900) because they are very difficult to work on.
