Honda Repair: check light in crx, jap import, trouble code

I have recently bought a jap import '89 crx and the check engine light jus came on .When I turn off the car, the light will go away. Then When I get it back up, the light comes on, but it takes while .when i'm driving the car it won't go over 3000 revs and gets very slug-ish what could the problem be?

You'll need to get the trouble code that turned on the check engine light. I'm not real sure where to find the jumper for that model, but when found simply jumping across thge 2-p coupler will in flashes, tell you the trouble code. Try looking on the internet for info about the location of the 2-p coupler, then you'll have to look up the codes also. Generally the 2-p can be found to the right of the glove box up under the dash.
