Honda Repair: bent propshaft, light vibration, prop shaft

Question
My 2000 HRV Automatic runs fine (light vibration on braking at low speed
& a squeek when going over a bump) but the prop shaft is bent
(according to Honda dealership).
A. Is it safe to drive on the motorway?
B. Is driving it doing damage to it?
C. is there a cheaper option for repair than £1,800 from Honda
Dealership?

Answer
Ben, As far as being safe I'm not sure. I guess if you've been driving it like that for a while you should be O.K. Depending on how bad it is, the unbalanced shaft could put stress on other components(bearings, seals) causing premature failure. There's no other option to replace the shaft that I'm aware of other than from the dealer. I would however contact scrap yards in an effort to locate a used shaft for a fraction of the cost. Good luck, RICK
