I have a 95 civic ex with roughly 120K on it. The problem started when my brother used the remote starter to start the car. I should also include that I've never had a problem with the remote starter. So the car started like normal for about ten seconds then shut off, that's when the problem started. I tried to start it again but it wouldn't turn over. So far I've changed the fuel pump, ignition distributor, battery, spark plugs & wires, and fuel regulator. The car is getting good spark and fuel delivery but when I turn the key it just keeps cranking and wont turn over. But when I pinch the fuel return line and turn the key it makes the engine want to turn over but then it doesn't. Before the entire problem the car ran great no problem's what so ever. I should also mention that the car does have a viper alarm with a kill switch if it helps. So hear I am all out of options, if you have any advice it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much for your time.

David are you sure you have good spark and fuel pressure. If you pull the plugs out are they wet?. Check for spark by grounding a spark plug on the engine block and have someone crank the engine while you check for spark. Check base engine timing(cam to crank) Maybe the timing belt jumped some teeth. Let me know, RICK

Question-
I’m positive that I have good spark, I have tested them before. The timing seems to be right no problems from there. I have aligned the cam to the crank and timing isn’t off (TDC is correct). But I am a little concerned about fuel pressure though, when I pulled the spark plugs out weren’t wet not even a little and I can barley smell gasoline on them. I also believe the number one sparkplug to piston isn’t getting any fuel delivered to it. I’m not sure what’s wrong with them, I mean I just put in a brand new fuel pump, what else should I be looking at?

David, when you turn the key on the check engine light comes on for 2 seconds then goes off. At the same time the light goes out listen for a click. That click is from the main relay which supplies power to the pump. If no click is heard the main relay is probably faulty. If it does click you can either check for power at the pump while cranking or remove a line from the rail and see if fuel comes out. Make sure the line is held in a container to collect the fuel. Let me know, RICK
Question-
The main relay is working fine and there is fuel going through the line. But for some reason when I crank the car the gas shoot's down the fuel pressure regulator down back to the tank, is that normal? I'm still not getting any fuel on the spark plug's. What else can I do? Do you think it could be the ecu?
Answer -
David, the fuel pessure reg will allow fuel through but I don't think as much as you may have. It's possible the ECM isn't driving the injectors. When you crank you'll have to take a stethescope and listen to the injectors for clicking. Try disconnecting the remote and the wire used for a tach signal for the remote and check your fuses in the under hood and under dash fuse box. RICK

Question-
The injector's aren't spraying enough fuel. So what should I do if the ECM isnt driving the injector's what needs to be changed. All the fuses are ok, no problem's in that category. thank's! -David-

Answer
David, before condemning the ECM I eould check the fuel pressure with a guage. You connect the guage to a service port(10mm) on top of the fuel filter. Cylcle the key twice and see what pressure you're reading, it should be 31-38 psi. If its too low it may be a bad fuel pump(I know you already replaced it but I've seen bad components out of the box)plugged fuel filter, issue with the regulator or a fuel leak/restriction.
