Honda Repair: Honda Civic EX 1997 Door Locks, honda civic ex, door locks

Question
Hello,

I have a 1997 Honda Civic EX w/ 137,000 miles.  About a year and a half ago my key fob which controls the door locks began to act oddly.  Not locking or unlocking the doors when the button was pressed.  So I replaced the battery.  For a short time it was fine.  Then only the driver's side front door would work and none of the rest even when manually pressing the lock button on the front drivers side door.  All of the door locks work manually separately.  But the door lock on the drivers side door only locks and unlocks the drivers door.  I have tested the switch and it is working.  Please advise.
Thank you for your time on this matter.

Answer
Kimberly, what I've seen common on those cars are the wires that run to the doors break causing intermittent operation and eventually no operation. Each door will have a boot in the door jamb which houses these wires. I'd look at those wires and see if any are broken. Start with the drivers door. Let me know, RICK
