Honda Repair: Honda Accord ABS resivior empty, resivor, abs light

Question
Hi i am trying to help a friend of mine with a honda Accord 1995 EX 4cyl .. the ABS resivor is bone dry and the abs light is on. I was thinking of just adding more ABS fluid (what ever the manual called for) but i read somewhere that it is not as simple as that, something about pressurizeing the ABS tank needed to be done.. Any ideas?

I have no idea if it drained out from a slow leak or if there is a massive hole in the system.

Answer
Jimmy, I would suspect a definite leak in the brake system. Was the master empty? There is a procedure to bleed the modulator. Fill the reservoir to the max level with dot 3 brake fluid. Loosen the bleeder 1/8 to a 1/4 turn and start the engine to activbate the pump motor. (make sure you have a hose connected to the bleeder and run it to a container to collect the fluid). Tighten the bleeder screw when the fluid starts to flow out of the bleeder. Wait until the pump motor stops and then turn off the engine. If the ABS light comes on after the pump motor stops repeat the same steps unless you find the leaks. Good luck, RICK
