Honda Repair: transmission, honda accord ex, honda parts

Question
1993 Honda Accord EX, 245,000 miles... Sir, my accord has stopped changing gears (automatic). The green light (that indicates the car being in drive) blinks, and the car seems as if I was starting out in third gear of a manual transmission. I think my transmission may be gone! Rebuild or buy new? What price should I be looking to pay? Thank you for your time.

Answer
Wayne, before you replace the transmission, that "D" light flashing is an indication that there is a problem in the transmission and the TCM(Trans Control Module) picked it up as a fault and stored a code. I would get the code which can be retrieved by jumping the 2 pin blue connector in the passengers kick panel, turn the ignition on and count the "D" blinks on the dash for the numeric code. Once you have that number with a manual you can relate that to a possible cause. It is quite possible that the trans is faulty but I'd rather be sure. If you are going to replace it a good used one is probably your best bet, cheaper than new but if you do rebuild it use HONDA parts. Check out this link for a company I use.
