Honda Repair: replacing bulb in instrument panel, honda civic cx, speedometer cable

Question
Bill,
I have recently discovered that the engine check light in my 1999 honda civic CX is faulty and needs replacing. I'd like to fix it myself, but don't know how to even remove the instrument panel.

Answer
Fraser:
Here is what you will need to do, in order; remove fasteners from the trim around the instrument cluster, use a pry tool to pop one side of the trim cover, and then carefully pull the instrument cluster cover out. This component is fragile so use caution to avoid any damage. Remove the instrument cluster screws, pull the instrument cluster forward, detach electrical connections, remove speedometer cable (if applicable), remove the cluster from the dash and be careful not to damage plastic face plate. Hope this helps.
