Honda Repair: 1989 Honda Accord LXI, alternator problem, light flash

Question
I think I have an alternator problem, and my question is; is there a voltage regulator or is it built into the the alternator?  And if it is the alternator, what are the steps to changing it - any tricks or pretty straight forward?

Symptoms - Driving car and it died - the idiot light flashing - replaced battery and still see idiot light flash when using the lights and heat...

Answer
Jeff:
The voltage regulator is built in the alternator. Yes, you will need to replace the alternator. To replace it is not too difficult, but it can be time consuming because it is a fairly tight fit. There are a couple of bolts to take out and you may need something to pry it out of the holder.
Good luck.
