Honda Repair: Honda Civic Question, flash flood, auto parts store

Question
I live in Louisiana and we had a hard rain/flash flood today.  I hit a puddle and felt my car (stock 99 civic) start to stall out.  After making it through the dip in the road, I turned into a driveway to get the car to higher ground until the water dropped to a normal level.   I sat in the driveway for about 10 minutes with the engine running but noticed that the engine would sputter and almost die every time I let it idle (it's a standard, in case that matters).  After about 10 minutes, the engine died.  Unable to restart it, we pushed the car onto a side street and let it sit for several hours.  When I came back it started, but still had problems whenever I took my foot off of the gas pedal.  I got home and checked the air filter.  It was damp, so I removed it and dried it out.  The car appears to run fine now that the air filter is dry but the check engine light still lights up every time I run the car.  Is there something else wrong that I could be missing or is there something I have to do to reset the check engine light?

Answer
Joseph:
You should be able to reset the computer by taking the negative cable off the battery for several seconds and the reconnect. If the light comes back on you can take it to an auto parts store and they have code readers you can plug in and see what the code is. Keep in mind that if you get a code that is only a symptom and you will still need to diagnosis the problem.
Good luck.
