Honda Repair: 2000 Civic 5 spd Cruise Control Repair, vacuum problem, vacuum unit

Question
I have a 2000 Civic 5 spd and the cruise control does not function. I can "turn on" the cruise control meaning the button lights up but I cannot set the speed. It worked intermittenly so it may be a short but this not my expertise. They fixed it was at the dealership after I had bought it used but it went out again. What can I do to troubleshoot/fix the problem. Thanks in advance.

Answer
Ryan:
There a few things you can check but since the problem is intermittent it will be difficult to diagnosis. Making sure the switch is on, check the brake and clutch pedal for adjustments and check the wiring for the cruse vacuum unit and control unit. The other things to check would be the vacuum hose connections but since this is intermittent I would doubt it is a vacuum problem, most likely it is in the wiring.
Good luck.
