Honda Repair: 89 Civic distributor, switch battery, plug wires

Question
Two different mechanics have replaced my distributor 3 times in the past 4 months on my 89 Civic. The car runs fine for a few weeks then begins to misfire during acceleration. It's hard to believe that the replacement distributors have all been bad. Could something be causing the distributors to fail?

Answer
Cliff:
Three distributors in a cars lifetime is too many, much less having that many replaced in four months. Something is causing them to fail. The distributor is part of the ignition system which consists of the ignition switch, battery, coil, spark plugs and plug wires. Something in that system is causing the distributor to go bad and you are having the symptom treated, your mechanic needs to check the ignition system and find the cause.
Good luck.
