Honda Repair: Honda Fluids, s brake, manual states

Bill,I have a CRV and the manual states to use Honda Fluids ( trans,P/S Brake) only. Are there any substitutes on the market? The prices at the dealer are an outrage. Why can't any good fluid work?

There are only a few manufacturers of these fluids and Honda gets theirs from one of them. Make sure when you get fluids that they are compatible with Honda's and I would stick with major name brands and stay away from the lower price ones.
