My car rattles when it's cold. it rattles more during acceleration.  What causes this and what can I do?

Generally what is happening is that the metal shrinks in the cold and causes the rattling noise. You will need to identify where it is coming from and either tighten the bolts or lubricate. It most likely is coming from the exhaust system since that is getting very hot and then very cold.
