Honda Repair: Honda Steering Pump, honda prelude, prelude 2

Question
The power steering pump on my 88 Honda Prelude 2.0 S (5 spd) is very loud. I have replaced it recently and it sounds exactly the same. There is a loud whiney sound when I turn the steering wheel. Is there an area that can get blocked up? What can I do to stop this annoying whine? It is extremely loud and sounds terrible.

Derek:
I would by pass the pump. If you have more than one belt,  the one with the pump on it. If that is impossible or inconclusive, I would have them disconnect the lines from the steering rack, put them in a bucket, and see if the pump makes a noise with no hydraulic resistance. (you can only do this for a very short period of time). You might also see if the fluid is discolored, burnt smell, etc... If it is dirty, the rack may be shot. My first inclination is, that the pump is not making the noise.
Good luck.
